The Philippi Festival travels to the Greek National Opera: 12+13+14 September | Backstage at the Greek National Opera, Athens<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A theatrical fantasy that dialogues with the mythical and natural world of Mount Pangeo, moving between contemporary dance, theater, and performance.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Municipal Regional Theater of Kavala, as part of the 68th Philippi Festival, presents on Monday, September 1, and Tuesday, September 2, at 9:00 p.m. at the former Lord Building, the performance “Stone+Thread_Heart=” conceived, directed, written and lit by Michalis Angelidis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The performance draws material from the collective imagination of Paggaio\u2014the Dionysian tradition, the transformations of the landscape, and local customs such as those of the Arapis and Babos. These elements constitute the atmospheric landscape within which the theatrical language develops. A language inspired by their essence, but at the same time free to narrate old and new stories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Using movement, gesture, speech, and imagery, two performers and a chorus of women weave a new theatrical mythology, where the human coexists with the non-human. Soundscapes based on field recordings from the Paggaio region and local traditional rhythms envelop and interweave the action. Inspired by the thinking of Rosi Braidotti, the work distances itself from anthropocentrism and imagines a world of equal coexistence between humans and non-human beings. At the same time, it is thematically linked to the universe of Chronis Missios, drawing on his thinking about the power of collective memory and the need to reconnect with the natural environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pre-sale at the Kavala Municipality Visitor Information Center (formerly EOT) Central Square, tel: 2510-620566, daily from Monday, August 25 (10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.), while on performance days, advance sales will be available at the event venue box office from 7:00 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: Holders of nominal invitations to the 68th Philippi Festival are requested to declare their intention to use them by Friday, August 29, while identity checks will be carried out at the theater entrance on the day of the performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
