An original adaptation where music dominates, combining in its aesthetics the colorfulness and sound of the circus with the jazz timbre and darkness of the cabaret. Ten exceptional performers bring to life on stage a frantic carnival, orchestrated and commented on – occasionally using the words of contemporary poets and thinkers – by a compere – the poet or Dionysus himself, the god of carnival and theatre.
“THE ASSEMBLYWOMEN – WOMEN IN POWER” is a comedy – a celebration of disguise, of the freedom to be – even if for just a short while – “others”. At the same time, through satirical speech, it acts as a bitter political commentary, which aims to break boundaries to reach a deafening dead-end, much like our era. To anxiously seek solutions, even utopian ones, capable however of uniting a society in planning a common future.
