For the first time, the Alternative Stage of the Greek National Opera and the Municipal and Regional Theatre of Kavala join forces to produce a unique performance. The new fruit of the creative relationship developed over recent years by the two institutions is the original Opera “Phaethon”, the artistic curation of which has been undertaken by the Rafi Music Theatre Ensemble.
One of the most important works of the French Baroque composer J. B. Lully, “Phaëton”, with a libretto by Philippe Quinault, is adapted by the acclaimed composer and artistic director of the Process Festival, Vasiliki Legaki, entering into a fruitful dialogue with the original creation, while the direction is undertaken by Sofia Antoniou, one of the most distinct theatrical voices of her generation.
