A writer spends several months visiting Martin, a twenty-year-old parricide, in prison. His purpose is to write a play based on the story of the young prisoner, to whom he proposes to perform as himself on the theatrical stage. When the relevant ministry eventually forbids this, the role is taken over by Federico, a young actor with whom the writer then begins working in parallel. The Franco-Uruguayan Sergio Blanco, one of the most powerful contemporary voices of Spanish-speaking theatre, delivers a modern study on male identity, oppression, violence and crime, punishment and discrimination, but at the same time on the very creative processes of the art of theatre, with references to the myth of Oedipus as well as to Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment. The distinguished director Vangelis Theodoropoulos highlighted the multi-layered work of the writer with a direction that was highly praised by critics and fascinated the audience thanks to its exceptional rhythm and suggestive atmosphere.
