For the tenth consecutive year, the Ancient Drama Lab will take place at the archaeological site of Philippi, continuing the tradition it has established in recent years of innovating the approach to ancient myths and stage experimentation. Three accomplished directors/actors — Varvara Douka, Giannis Leontaris, and Maria Savvidou — will work for ten consecutive days with eighteen young artists who will have the opportunity, through daily rehearsals within the archaeological site, to be taught, to explore, and to propose, with the ultimate goal of becoming co-creators of a new story that draws its inspiration from ancient ones. This year, placing the concept of METAMORPHOSIS at the center of their research, they will examine works of ancient drama through their own distinct perspectives. The results of this journey will be presented in a unified, original performance that will transform the archaeological site of Philippi in its own unique way, giving it a new dimension of existence, as it will not merely serve as a stage but as an active interlocutor of their work.

*The workshop is a member of the Ancient Drama Network and is held under the auspices and with the support of the Ministry of Culture.
