The performance is based on the myth of Antigone, but here Antigone is no longer just a heroine of antiquity: she becomes a modern woman, standing upright and unsubmissive, embodying a dignity that refuses to surrender. On a deliberately minimalist stage, the narrative unfolds through a suitcase —a symbol of exile and memory— which transforms into a miniature theatre. The performance takes the form of a fairytale, both spoken and sung, carried out by two performers-puppeteers. One “sculpts” the light and the appearances, giving body to the figures of power and tragedy, while the other embodies Antigone, enriching the narrative with the experience of the Iranian storytelling tradition (Naqqali) and her own personal journey.
